So, in true starving creative fashion, recently we were lucky to be hosted for an artistic lunch experience with the lady we call “the art chef” – a lovely young lady by the name of Katlego Catley Rahlahane. Katlego is a former design student I met through a friend whilst he was taking her on a strange tour of Jozi City (strange, because from my knowledge, Kat is a resident of the East Rand ). From a short conversation and my amazing gentlemanly charm, I managed to coerce the Jamie Oliver influenced chef to come over to our place on a Saturday and cook for my weird and fun assortment of guests.

Any designer who does not appreciate or know about good food is not a very good designer. The planning of a meal and its presentation; the texture, the colour, the tastes, the hot and cold temperatures––are the same concerns that affect the environment – Van Day Truex

Besides her understanding of general design principles and her interest in the arts, Kat developed an incredible and serious love for Anime from a young age (we’re talking addiction here folks). On a Saturday spent sight-seeing at the Neighbourgoods Market and through 71 Juta street in Braamfontein, it eventually down to the time of some serious food and art business. We dually all learnt how a lovely plate pf food can manage to turn an ordinary Saturday interview, into a fun little occasion & experience.

Yip buddy, you have some sleepless nights ahead

So, in a special meal that she appropriately named “Kat-ala-King”, the young art chef treated us to an amazingly healthy and delicious pasta meal. But rather than bore you with our usual politically correct or incorrect commentary, we created a short 5 minute vlog to sum-up the awesome day spent with Kat. In the video, Kat talks us through the secret ingredients she used to achieve the delectable result. We also picked up a lot of the other strange and fun events that took place on that day.

PS: It is with guilt that I must admit that we misplaced so many awesome images from our initial interview with Kat. We also did misspell her name on the video. Yes, we deserve a real good kick in the face! however, the awesome video remains and Kat remains one of the most epic people we’ve met this year… enjoy

That’s our piece and tell them you heard it from Simphiwe Xulu aka @Mr_MediaX on Twitter right here on https://starvingcreatives.wordpress.com
